The secret journey of Watamu is designed for travelers who want to touch, taste and feel the souls of coastal Kenya through their unique highlights and experiences. More than simple whirlwind tours, the secret journey of Watamu carry iconic destinations and must-see spots with the hidden corners and below-the-skin experiences to discover some of the famous and unique places around the Watamu region.
Comprised of the azure Watamu beach and the nearby Watamu Marine Park, we will take you on a wild African adventure throughout this sparsely inhabited town lying between the blue lagoon and Watamu bay. we will also take you kayaking in the Mida Creek
Paddling around the islands provides the ideal way to get close to nature and be completely enveloped in the beauty of towering trees, remote beaches, and mountains. Discover the wildlife that inhabit this region and the secrets of Swahili’s rich and plentiful inter-tidal life while exploring magical waterways.
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your Nairobi hotel at 0700hrs and you will depart for Watamu. Board your first class SGR train at 0800hrs to arrive approximately at 1400hrs in Watamu. Take in your surroundings at the luxurious Rock & Sea Watamu which will be your sea facing home for four days.
Retire for bed at 0900hrs ahead an activity packed next day.
Meals are on a half board basis as stipulated on the itinerary.
After your 0800hrs breakfast, head for Watamu Marine Park. This National Marine Reserve boasts different species of marine life making Watamu an adventurous top destination.
Be ready to be in the presence of green turtles, Manta Rays, lionfish as well as whale sharks.
Break for lunch at 1300hrs and after a mouth watering Swahili cuisine, you will head back to sea at 1430hrs. From here we will enter the protected Watamu area which is a natural dolphins sanctuary in an attempt to spot dolphins. These are wild creatures that create the perfect scenery for anyone ready to watch.
Spend the entire afternoon in these tidal waters enjoying the best of what Watamu has to offer,
At 1630hrs you will head back to shore full of a seal load of experiences.
Retire to bed at Rock & Sea Watamu at approximately 2100hrs.
Today will be spent on a boat excurison in the Mida Creek, a broadwater tidal creek surrounded by extensive mangroves and lined with palms. Here sundowners are magical and the marine life as well as bird life are in plenty.
After exhausting yourself with discovering this mangrove, head back to your hotel for refreshments, dinner and overnight.
Another day to explore Watamu and the colorful blue world that may lie beyond.
You will rise early and after your breakfast choose your fun from the optional activities prepared.
you will have the option to spend the entire day tanning, basking or swimming at Watamu beach.
Alternatively, visit the nearby Watamu villages to have a first hand interaction with the local culture, witness the Italian culture present here and have a taste of Swahili cuisine.
This is also a day for seasoned swimmers to reacquaint themselves with the deep sea as snorkeling and scuba diving will also be on the list. Now this is swimmers delight as the combination of the wildlife found in watamu and the blue waters combined create a colorful blue world.
ise early to catch a half day beach activities at Watamu beach. You will depart on your first class SGR ticket arriving in Nairobi at approximately 1700hrs full of memories from the sea.
You will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport to board your flight.
